Sale picks up for Saraswathi Poojai

On the eve of Navaratri Festival, Sivakasi bazar was abuzz with activity even at the otherwise dull hours at around 6:00 p.m. and 2 p.m., today. There was a huge demand for Pakka Vaazhai, Sola Pori, Aval Pori and Wood Apple (Vilaam Pazham). In Sivakasi, one wood apple sold at Rs.20/- to Rs.40/-, one pair of pakka vaazhai price ranges from Rs.25/- to Rs.30/- and coconut were sold for Rs.15 to Rs.20/-. There was hike in rates of flowers also. Idols and decorative papers were kept for sale at Sivakasi Bazar on the eve of Navaratri Festival. Shoppers were busy buying the puja materials.

Pakka Vaazhai was placed in almost all the offices of the town. Sivakasians worshiped Goddess Saraswathi and Lakshmi along with their friends, relatives and workers. And distributed them Sundal, Aval Pori and Vilaam Pazham. On account of Saraswathi Pooja majority of the offices and industries announced half day holiday, in Sivakasi. In some houses Kolu was celebrated in a grand manner. Some worshiped by placing school book and notes in front of the Goddess.
