Mazhai Kanji - Special Pooja to appease rain

As a part of 2015 Therukattu Pongal Festival, few streets in Sivakasi organised Mazhai Kanji fest - special Pooja to appease rain in the town. Mazhai Kanji has been prepared and special pujas were performed for Goddess Muthaalamman. And offered the godess Mazhai Kanji, to invoke the rain god. The street people take part in the services in large numbers and pray for bountiful rains. Believing that, after offering the puja, they will receive enough rainfall in the town.
