Rain for the second consecutive year on Chithirai Pongal

Last year rain lashed on Chithirai Pongal and Kayirukuthu Festival, in Sivakasi town. And this year also, Sivakasi received good rain on the day of Chithirai Pongal. After playing hide and seek for the past one month, the much awaited rain finally made its presence felt in Sivakasi town, today. As predicted two weeks back by weatherman, the skies turned black and started drizzling and sharp showers at afternoon. Moderate to heavy rain continued for about 30 to 40 minutes from 03:15 p.m. to 04:05 p.m., in Sivakasi town. Rain water harvesting systems, installed in buildings, received copious amount of water. Sivakasi set to get some more drizzle, for the next week, with maximum and minimum temperature of 34 and 24 degree celsius.
