Chithirai Pongal Kayirukuthu Thiruvizhaa 2017

Chithirai Pongal Kayirukuthu festival was celebrated in Sivakasi, on 10th May 2017, Wednesday. Large number of devotees take part in Vesham Poduthal ( swearing of white and black dots in their body and having neem leaves in their hands ) and sings the song Aahoi Ayyaahoi. Devotees carried mulaipaari, agni chatti, 1000 kannu paanai, and maavilakku. Some devotees perform nerthikadan such as Padha Kaanikai, Kan Malar, Muthu Poduthal, Kayirukuthudhal and mottai podudhal. Sevaral fans club and Social Clubs in Sivakasi distributed free Butter Milks, Rose milk, Sarbath, Lemon Juices and Paanai Karam to the public. Sivakasians posted their vesham poduthal photos in Facebook and other social media websites. Sivakasi Hindu Nadar Uravinmurai arranged the festival in a grand and in an systematic manner. The temple and police administration have made special arrangements to conduct the festival in a smooth manner. Rain lashes for three hours at evening, accompanied with lightnings & thunders. Sivakasi receives highest rainfall for the year 2017 - 13 cm.
