Sivakasi Jewellers close shops

In Sivakasi, the merchants of Jewellers continued their agitation for the third consecutive day on Monday, protesting against the increase in import duty on gold from two percent to four percent and levy one percent excise duty on platinum and gold, in the proposals of Union Budget. The new proposals would badly hit the customers, who had already been affected due to spiralling prices of gold. For last three days, Jewellers down shutters in Sivakasi.
