09-12-2013 9th November 2013 Good news for Sivakasi Train Passengers There is good news for people of Sivakasi and Thiruthangal that, Silambu Express to go up to Sengottai via Thiruthangal, Sivakasi. The Manamadurai-Chennai (Silambu Express – Train No.16181 & 16182) is being extended up to Sengottai, covering Thiruthangal, Sivakasi, Rajapalayam and Tenkasi. This train serves twice a week on Wednesdays and Saturdays. The train will run through the newly introduced broad gauge line between Manamadurai and Virudhunagar. The Tamil Nadu Chamber of Commerce and Industry, in a release here, thanked the Union Minister of State for Railways, K. Jeya Surya Prakash Reddy. In the present state, the train is idle in Manamadurai for over 12 hours. The extension will immensely benefit the ever-increasing passenger traffic in the section, it pointed out. The Chamber urged an early implementation of the route extension. |
