Water motors seized

Sivakasi Municipality have seized around 150 electric motor pumps from Sivakasians who were allegedly involved in illegal tapping of water from pipelines, in the past one year. A team led by Sivakasi Municipality officials went around all the wards of Sivakasi and conducted a surprise inspection among the households engaged in illegal tapping of water and seizing the motors. Officials said that, there will be disconnection of water supply to those houses which were using the illegal motors, and also added that they would not be returned to the owners at any cost. The severed connections are restored on payment of a fine of Rs.12,500.
