475 units collected at Sivakasi blood donation camp

A record 475 units of blood was collected at a camp organised by the Kamarajar Retha Dhaana Kulu and Sivakasi Government Hospital at the Velanganni Matha Higher Secondary School, Sivakasi to mark the 112th birthday of Karmaveerar Kamaraj. This is the 11th time that Kamarajar Retha Dhaana Kulu has organised such a camp in connection with the day. Overwhelming response from the student community, coordinated efforts of Kamarajar Retha Dhaana Kulu and well-thought out plan were primarily the reasons for this successful massive blood donation camp, in Sivakasi Town.

The highlight of the blood donation camp, was physically challenged people came on their own and donated blood. A team of twelve staff was headed by Dr.Ayyanar, Blood Bank Medical Officer, Sivakasi Government Hospital, for the camp. Blood donors were provided with glucose, orange fruit and biscuits, as refreshment. The organisers distributed certificates of appreciation and blood-donor cards to the blood donors. The camp was well supported by NSS volunteers from Thiruthangal Kalaimagal School. Tree saplings were distributed to all the donors. There was live coverage and broadcast of the camp by the local cable channels. The camp bagged huge appreciation from doctors and medical staff.
