Lions School swimmers scoop 22 medals

The students of The Sivakasi Lions Matriculation Higher Secondary School have bagged as many as 22 medals in the District-level swimming competitions held at Virudhunagar Hindu Nadars Senthikumara Nadar College, Virudhunagar, on 18th July 2014, Friday. The medal haul included five gold, eight silver and nine bronze. The students, trained by coach Sakravarthy, had mostly excelled in the events such as butterfly, breast stroke, free style and back stroke. Akilan of 12th standard has to his credit 4 gold medals in 50m & 100m free style and 50m & 100m breast stroke. Jeganath bagged one gold in 50m butterfly, one silver in 50m free style and one bronze in 100m free style. Two bronze medals went to Aravind (50m & 100m free style). Naren sweeps one silver and one bronze. Madhesh got two silvers (50m & 100m back stroke). Hari Prasanth won one silver in 50m butterfly. Velmurugan got two bronze (50m & 100m breast stroke). Visveshwaran got two silver in 50m & 100m breast stroke. Two bronze medals went to Ishant (50m & 100m back stroke) and Sanjay Vishnu won one silver (100m breast stroke) and one bronze (50m breast stroke). The Sivakasi Lions Matriculation Higher Secondary School won the overall championship trophy. Ayyavoo T. Moni, lauded the efforts of the swimmers and their coach Sakravarthy.
