YRTV wins second place in The Hindu Young World Quiz competition

Playing the fastest finger first; frantically pressing buzzers; quickly writing down the answers; and cheering enthusiastically for every point scored — these and much more were part of the action-packed 15th edition of The Hindu Young World Quiz held at the Thiagarajar College here on Tuesday.

For the first time, a quiz was conducted in the sub-junior category for students of classes III to V which saw a huge turnout of 110 teams from Madurai, Tiruchi, Tirunelveli, Sivakasi, Kanyakumari, Ramanathapuram and other southern districts.

Six teams qualified for the finals after the written preliminary round. The questions tossed at them by quizmaster V. V. Ramanan covered a very wide canvas . V. Dhanush Aditya and A. Aadhithya, both of class V from Aditya Birla Public School, Ariyalur, were the runaway winners with a margin of five short of a ton, at the end of the exciting finals.

In the second place were K. N. T. K. Thiyagesh of class IV and J. Davidson of class V from the Y. R. T. V. Matriculation Higher Secondary School, Sivakasi, while V. Shriram Ananth and K. Jaideep Vishnu, both of class V from the Mahatma CBSE School, Madurai, bagged the third place.

The teams from R. S. K. Higher Secondary School, Tiruchi; A.U.P.E.T. Chinmaya Vidyalaya Matriculation Higher Secondary School, Tirunelveli; and Pushpalatha Vidya Mandir, Tirunelveli, bagged the fourth, fifth and sixth places respectively.
