Prathosam prayers conducted |
03-06-2015 3rd June 2015 In Sivakasi, on 31st May 2015, Sunday, Prathosam prayers was conducted, at evening. Prathosam is a day of importance for Lord Shiva and it occurs twice every month once during the growing moon period and once during the waning moon period. In both these periods, the 1 hour before and 1 hour after sunset and approximately, 4.30 P.M. to 7.30 P.M. (the time we see stars) will constitute PRADHOSAM. It is on Prathosam that Lord Shiva danced between two horns of NANDHI DEVA. The offering of prayers on Prathosam day to both Lord Shiva and Nandhi is believed to destroy our sins and shower his blessings. In Sivakasi, Prathosam is an important event in Sivan Kovil. Special prayers were offered. Hundreds of devotees were presented on the auspicious occasion. |
