Ganesh idol immersion procession held at Sivakasi

As a part of Vinayakar Chathurthi Festival, Idol Immersion of Lord Vinayaka was performed, on 9th September 2016, Friday, in Sivakasi, at 06:00 p.m.. Over 40 idols put up and worshipped in the town during Ganesh puja were immersed in the Sakkammal Kovil Theppam. The Idol Radhams were decorated with flowers, festoons, garlands and lights. Few devotees carried out mulaipaari, paavai vilakku while others danced throughout the procession accompanied with band sets. Procession started from Mariamman Kovil. Heavy police bandobust marked the occasion. A team of divers were kept stand by at the immersion point. The idols were brought to Sakkamal Kovil Theppam following the route map given by the police and the organizers. The idols were taken into the waters and immersed one by one. Thousands take part in Ganesh idol immersion procession.
