2011 Vinayakar Chathurthi celebration in Sivakasi

Vinayakar Chathurthi was celebrated on 1st of September 2011, all over India. The immersion of large Lord Vinayaka idols were done in different dates mentioned by The Government of Tamil Nadu. The date alloted by The Government of Tamil Nadu for Sivakasi was on 6th September 2011. Around 6p.m. the celebration started. Police securities were tighten near Sivakasi Mariamman Temple. The devotees followed the rathas by having paavai vilakku in their hands. Some area people did fireworks display. Some kids were in the costumes of Lord Muruga. Devotees danced in front of the rathas, with band music. Prasathams were distributed to all the devotees. More than 20 Vinayakar idols were brought near Mariamman Temple. Around 8.30 p.m. all the idols were taken to the backside of Sakkammaal temple for immersion. In Sivakasi, this year the idols were prepared with eco-friendly, as per the norms of The State Government.
