Chithirai Pongal begins with flag hoisting ceremony

The 11 days Chithirai Pongal Festival commenced at Sivakasi Sri Arulmighu Pathirakaliamman Temple with the flag hoisting ceremony, on 2nd May 2017, Tuesday. Special pujas were performed on the chief deity Badrakaliamman. The priests also performed special pujas on the flag post, where the holy flag was hoisted. Thousands witnessed Kodiyetram Festival. Some devotees prepared Pongal and offered to Badrakaliamman. Light music was arranged. Vijay TV fame Anu and Ragu enthralled the audience for more than two hours. After Kodiyetram event, Fireworks display has been made.
