Suri Graphix automates its cutting operation with Zund

Sivakasi-based Suri Graphix has invested in a Zund S3 800 digital cutter in September 2017. This investment has converted its manual cutting operation to fully automatic.

Prior to the Zund installation, the sampling jobs were being executed manually. Now, Suri Graphix is rendering short-run jobs of quantities varying from 10-50 units and also job work for "outside clients". The machine can cut substrates like paper, paperboard, corrugated board, sticker sheets and plastic sheets with the Zund digital cutter.

Krishna Subramanian, the owner of Suri Graphix, said, “We were looking for a digital cutter which was capable of carrying out short-run jobs along with the sampling of jobs, and we found the Zund as a perfect option.”

Subramanian added, “We opted for Zund because its speed was faster and could cut various substrates with less number of tools.”

Installation was completed within a day and Zund official started the training on the same day. Prasanna Venkatesh, managing director of Zund India said, “It is the versatility and the ability of the machines to handle different substrate that tilted Suri Graphix in favour of this machine.”

Established in 2009, Suri Graphix deals in manufacturing paper bags, cartons, rigid boxes, micro-flute boxes, etc. Suri Graphix started its operation with a pre-owned Bobst die-cutter and today in its 12,000 sq/ft facility it runs an Autoprint die-cutter, foil stamping, window patching, paper bag machine, rigid box glueing and Brausse folder gluer machines. All of this run by a team of 55 persons.

Suri Graphix will be investing in Engview or Ardent Impact software for its Zund digital cutting machine and is focussing on investing in finishing machines in the near future.
