2011 Bakrid Celebration in Sivakasi

Sivakasians celebrated Bakrid festival - the festival of sacrifice. Schools in Sivakasi were announced as holidays for three days. In Sivakasi, Bakrid dawns with the resounding of Allahu Akbar, the declaration that god is great. Sivakasians weared new dress and proceed to for public prayers. The Bakrid festivity at home commence after the ceremonial prayer with hearty feasts followed by social visits. In Sivakasi, the delicious Qurbani were distributed to non muslims.
