Chithirai Pongal begins with flag hoisting ceremony

The 11 days Chithirai Pongal Festival commenced at Sivakasi Sri Arulmighu Pathirakaliamman Temple with the flag hoisting ceremony, on 1st May 2018, Tuesday. Special pujas were performed on the chief deity Badrakaliamman. The priests performed special pujas on the flag post, where the holy flag was hoisted. Thousands witnessed Kodiyetram Festival. Some devotees prepared Pongal and offered to Badrakaliamman. Light music was arranged. After Kodiyetram event, Fireworks display has been made.
