Bus routes revised in Kovilpatti

A number of bus routes was revised in Kovilpatti on Wednesday in order to reduce traffic congestion. The revisions have been announced with effect from October 1.

Buses from Kovilpatti to Vilathikulam, Thoothukudi, Tiruchendur and Pasavanthanai depart from the Anna bus stand without any change. Buses from other areas to these places via Kovilpatti should go to the new bus stand on the Madurai-Tirunelveli bypass road, and then reach the Anna bus stand.

Meanwhile, buses from Kovilpatti to Madurai and Tirunelveli reaching the new bus stand on the bypass road should also pass by the Anna bus stand. Buses leaving Kovilpatti for Srivilliputhur, Rajapalayam, Tiruvenkatam, Kazhugumalai, Sankarankoil and Sivakasi would depart from the new bus stand.

Further, all buses reaching Kovilpatti from 8 p.m. to 5 a.m. must come to the Anna bus stand. Steps would be taken to set up a police outpost near the additional bus stand.

Meanwhile, private buses would be instructed to come only to the new bus stand.

The buses going to Appaneri, Ayyanari, Sathirapatti, Zamin Devarkulam and Elayarasanenthal departing from the Anna bus stand should go to the additional bus stand and operate in the stipulated routes.
