Sivakasi Receives Super Rain of the Year

Today Sivakasi town receives Super Rain of the year. There were five spells of heavy rainfall. The first rain spell accompanied with lightnings and thunders, between 09:15 a.m. and 9:45 a.m. . The second rain spell from 09:55 a.m. to 10:30 a.m. and the third spell between 10:40 a.m. to 11:15 a.m. There was two more spells. Almost there was super rain in Sivakasi between 09:15 a.m. to 12:45 p.m.. Rain water harvesting systems, installed in buildings, received copious amount of water. Record rains cause heavy flooding in Sivakasi town. The drains were overflowed and the roads remained flooded for some hours. The heavy showers for more than three hours in Sivakasi town brought the highest inflow of the season to both the Sirukulam and Periyakulam Kanmai. The consecutive spells of heavy rain brought down the maximum temperature to 31 degrees Celsius, four notches below average, while the minimum dropped to 24 degrees Celsius, four notches below average. A few spells of rain are expected for next seven days in Sivakasi town. The heavy downpour was a bit of surprise for Sivakasians.
