2012 Thiruvathirai festival in Sivakasi

Thiruvathirai was observed today in Sivakasi. Sevaral houses in Sivakasi was decorated with kolams of radhams. Lot of roadside shops such as Panangilangu, Karumbhu, balloon, toys, idols of gods, electric goods, flowers shops were placed in bazar. The procession of Sivakasi Sivan Kovil Natarajar, Sivakasi Subramaniasamy Kovil Natarajar and Sivakasi Kadai Kovil Amman and Kamatchi Amman has taken place, in the four car streets of Sivakasi, at morning.

Majority of the Sivakasians attended the function with their family. Near all the Gods rathams, two people put Naamam for the worshippers. Children in Sivakasi were wowed by seeing the three big rathas in the bazar. Most of the Sivakasi girls and women have Sevandhi Poo on their head. Due to Thiruvathirai festival there is hike in the price of all the flowers.

A traffic constable near Sivakasi Kadai Kovil, controlled the traffic and re-routed by explaining the reason why the route is changed, with a smiley face. Throughout the day he did his duty with the unchanged smiley face. After worshipping all the Gods, Sivakasians bought Panangilangu and Karumbhu. For Thiruvathirai Festival, Kali were prepared in most of the houses in Sivakasi and some observed fasting. Thiruvathirai Festival entertained all age groups, in Sivakasi.
