Therukattu Pongal season in Sivakasi

Theru kattu Pongal is celebrated on Masi month (February end and March) of Tamil Calendar every year, in Sivakasi and the festival is famous in majority streets of the town. Therukkattu Pongal is celebrated in Sivakasi for more than 100 years. The spirit of Therukattu Pongal encourages the feeling of brotherhood in the street and even the enemies turn friend on this day. People of all communities and even religions participate in this entertaining street festival and strengthen the secular fabric of the street. Streets wore festive look for the last few days and therukattu pongal is a real feast for the Sivakasians.
