Chithirai Pongal begins with flag hoisting ceremony

The 11 days Chithirai Pongal Festival commenced at Sivakasi Sri Arulmighu Pathirakaliamman Temple with the flag hoisting ceremony, on 3rd May 2022, Tuesday. Special pujas were performed on the chief deity Badrakaliamman. The priests performed special pujas on the flag post, where the holy flag was hoisted. Thousands witnessed Kodiyetram Festival. After two years the festival was conducted without any Corona restrictions. As kumbhabhisegam work was going on since last January 2022, kodiyetram was held just opposite to the temple campus (pongal preparation and offering area). Temple tank were also under renovation work. Light music was arranged. After Kodiyetram event, Fireworks display has been made.
