Chithirai Pongal Kayirukuthu festival

Chithirai Pongal Kayirukuthu festival was celebrated in Sivakasi, today, after two years, due to pandemic restrictions and corona lockdowns (2020 and 2021) Lite version of kayirkuthu festival celebrated in 2022.. Large number of devotees take part in Vesham Poduthal ( swearing of white and black dots in their body and having neem leaves in their hands ) and sings the song Aahoi Ayyaahoi. As kumbabhisegam thirupani is going in fullswing since January2022, vepilai urundu koduthal place was kept just near the entrance of raja gopuram. Most of the areas were restricted due to renovation work. Devotees carried mulaipaari, agni chatti, 1000 kannu paanai, and maavilakku. Some devotees perform nerthikadan such as Padha Kaanikai, Kan Malar, Muthu Poduthal, Kayirukuthudhal and mottai podudhal. Sevaral fans club and Social Clubs in Sivakasi distributed free Butter Milks, Rose milk, Sarbath, Lemon Juices and Paanai Karam to the public. Sivakasians posted their vesham poduthal photos in Facebook and other social media websites. Sivakasi Hindu Nadar Uravinmurai arranged the festival in a grand and in an systematic manner. The temple and police administration have made special arrangements to conduct the festival in a smooth manner. There was no rain on 2022 Chithirai Pongal Kayirukuthu Thiruvizha in Sivakasi,However the town receives mild drizzle between 06:30 a.m. and 07:30 a.m.. Climate remains cloudy throughout the day.
