Thai Pongal Celebrated at Sivakasi

Pongal, the harvest festival, was celebrated with fervour in Sivakasi on 14th January 2025, Tuesday. The colourful Rangoli and Dot kolams on the streets and houses decorated with kannupilla chedi and manjal chedi, karumbu and flowers marked the day as Sivakasians welcomed the auspicious Tamil month of "Thai". Karumbu sold out for Rs.50/- to Rs.60/- per karumbu. Kanupilla chedi priced Rs.10/- and Manjal Chedi Rs.20/-. There is hike in the price of panangailangu. Usually it is Rs.40/- per 10 pcs bundle, this year it is priced as Rs.60/-. Sivakasians exchanged greetings with friends and relatives and distributed pongal.
