Consecutive Rainfall After Scorching Heat in Sivakasi

The town of Sivakasi experienced two consecutive days of significant rainfall on 3rd October 2025, Friday and 4th October 2025, Saturday, bringing an abrupt and welcome end to a severe heatwave for the past 2 months. The precipitation delivered much-needed environmental relief, mitigated severe drought conditions, and significantly lowered air temperatures, prompting a shift in public sentiment from distress to relief. However in Sivakasi, the rapid environmental change also introduced challenges related to high humidity and water runoff.

Virudhunagar District suffered a scorching heatwave with maximum daily temperatures consistently recorded above 40 degree celsius for the past 2 months. The rain began on the evening of 3rd October 2025, starting as a moderate shower and intensifying at 5:00 p.m.. The second day, saw continuous, heavy precipitation throughout the evening, easing to light drizzles by the afternoon. Following the rain, in majority of the towns in Virudhunagar District, the combination of high moisture in the air and the still-warm ground resulted in elevated humidity levels. This created a new type of discomfort, often referred to as "muggy heat," which can exacerbate the risk of humid heat stress.

For the next one week sky will be partly cloudy with chances for rainfall, with average maximum temperature of 38 degree celsius and minimum of 26 degree celisus.
