Next day of Diwali spoiled with incessant Northeast monsoon rain

The festive cheer of Diwali quickly faded as continuous rain, in Sivakasi, driven by the active Northeast Monsoon, drenched the town and the entire Virudhunagar District, on 21st October 2025, Tuesday. The mild drizzle, which began late on Diwali night, intensified through the morning, disrupting normal life and dampening post-festival celebrations. It was non stop till 5 pm. There was no crackers sound throughout the day, due to rain. Despite the disruptions, the rain brought some relief from the smoky aftermath of Diwali fireworks, improving air quality levels across the region.
