Mini Diwali Celebrated in Sivakasi

Karthigai, the festival of lights or Mini Diwali was celebrated with fervor in Sivakasi, on 3rd December 2025, Wednesday. In front of houses Sivakasians drew beautiful deepam kolams. For lunch Sivakasians prepared 3 to 26 varieties of side dishes. Thirukarthigais delicious sweets Kadalai urundai and Pori Kadalai Urundai were prepared by Sivakasians and shared with their neighbours, friends and relatives. At evening Sivakasians lighten earthen oil lamps (ahal vilakku) in rows all over the floor and walls and some Sivakasians has switched over to the scented candles, light candles in different colours. Sivakasians celebrate Thiru Karthigai with enthusiasm, religious fervour by lighting lamps and bursting crackers.
