15-Minute Fireworks Show Enthralls Devotees on Chithirai Pongal Kodiyetram

The auspicious Chithirai Pongal festival commenced on 28th April 2026, Tuesday, with the ceremonial kodiyetram. Thousands of devotees gathered at temples across the region, with Sivakasi witnessing a particularly grand turnout. The flag hoisting ceremony of Sivakasi Chithirai Pongal took place at 7:45 pm amid traditional rituals, Vedic chants, and the sounds of nadaswaram and thavil. Priests performed special poojas seeking blessings for prosperity and well-being, as the sacred flag was raised to signal the start of the multi-day festival. Adding to the festive spirit, a spectacular 15-minute fireworks display was arranged by Ayya Nadar Fireworks, lighting up the sky and drawing cheers from devotees and visitors. The colorful bursts and synchronized patterns created a vibrant atmosphere, symbolizing joy and celebration. Further enhancing the festive atmosphere, light music performances were arranged, entertaining the audience with devotional and cinema songs.
