07-05-2026 TVK’s Keerthana scripts history as first woman MLA from Sivakasi Keerthana S of Tamilaga Vettri Kazhagam secured a victory in the election, while Ashokan G of the Indian National Congress finished in second place. Sivakasi in Virudhunagar district, often called the "Fireworks Capital of India," witnessed a major political shift in 2021 after a decade of AIADMK rule. For the 2026 elections, the participating candidates are A. M. S. G. Ashokan (INC), K. T. Rajenthrabhalaji (AIADMK), Esther Mary Diana A. (NTK), and Keerthana S. (TVK). In the 2021 Assembly elections, INC’s A. M. S. G. Ashokan won with 78,947 votes, defeating AIADMK’s Lakshmi Ganesan by a margin of 17,319 votes.
