Chithirai Pongal festival was celebrated with traditional fervour

Though rain showers caused minor inconvenience, at evening between 6:45 and 7:30 pm, the spirit of Chithirai Pongal celebration remained unaffected, in Sivakasi, on 5th May 2026, Tuesday. Devotees visited Badrakaliamman temple carrying offerings and participated in special poojas conducted for prosperity. Temple authorities made necessary arrangements to ensure smooth conduct of rituals amid the rain. Sivakasians said the rainfall during the festival was considered auspicious by many, symbolising prosperity. The celebrations concluded peacefully with devotees expressing joy over the successful observance of the traditional Chithirai Pongal festival.
