Moderate rainfall in Sivakasi

Moderate rainfall lashed Sivakasi on May 9, 2026, bringing relief from the scorching summer heat. The town witnessed rain for the second consecutive day and the third spell of rainfall during the week. Dark clouds covered the sky during the evening hours, followed by moderate showers accompanied by cool winds, lightnings . and thunders. Several areas in and around Sivakasi received steady rainfall, leading to a pleasant drop in temperature. The rain also brought temporary water stagnation in a few low-lying areas, while motorists experienced slow traffic movement on important roads. However, the weather remained favourable for the public and devotees participating in Chithirai Pongal Therottam. Residents noted that rainfall during the Chithirai Pongal season has become a regular occurrence in Sivakasi over the years. Many locals remarked that summer showers often coincide with the annual temple celebrations, adding a festive atmosphere and relief from the heat. On May 8th 2026, the town received rainfall for around one hour between 06:45 pm and 7:30 pm. On 9th May the town received moderate rainfall from 06:00 pm to 7:15 pm. Meteorological conditions remained cloudy in the region, with chances of further rainfall in isolated places.
