2012 Sivakasi Chithirai Pongal Kayirukuthu Utsav in Sri Badrakaliamman Kovil

Chithirai Pongal Kayirukuthu Utsav was celebrated at Sri Badrakaliamman Temple here on 9th May 2012(wednesday). A large number of devotees with vesham visited the temple and offered prayers at the santhis of Goddess Badrakaliamman. Devotees performed nerthikadans such as carrying Agni Chatti, Mulaipaari, Ayiramkan Paanai, paal kudam. Some devotees draw attentions of the public by performing paravai kaavadi and 21 agni chatti. Some fans club and social clubs offered free distribution of water, buttermilk, rose milk, paanaikaram, lemon juice and food, throughout the day. The temple and deities were decorated with flowers and garlands. Special abiseghams and pujas were performed. Chicken and mutton stalls were overcrowded, from 04:00 a.m. onwards. Offices and industries in Sivakasi announced local holiday for Kayirukuthu Festival. A grand fireworks display has been made at 09:00 p.m. in the temple campus, for more than half an hour. After the fireworks display entertainment, Sivakasians visited exhibition.
