Super Rain Saves Sivakasi

In Sivakasi, after a long, hot day, Sivakasians were greeted by a sudden downpour, at evening, today. Dark clouds kept hovering over the town during evening time, bringing down the temperature which had become unbearable during the past few weeks and there was no sign of rain, today. But unexpectedly it was rained for around one hour, from 5:40 p.m. to 6:45 p.m. Rain accompanied by thunders, lightening and winds. The drains were overflowed and the roads remained flooded for some hours. Rainy onslaughts leave several roads damaged, in Sivakasi.

Due to shortage of water in Sivakasi and problem in Manur Water pipeline, water supply through pipeline by Municipality has been supplied once in 15-18 days. Usually it was supplied once in four days. Lack of rain in the town resulted in decreasing ground level water. In Sivakasi, one kudam of hard water supplied for Rs.1.50/-, soft water for Rs.4/- and mineral water for Rs.12/-, by Private water suppliers.

The super rain not only chilled Sivakasi grounds but also filled the water tanks of Sivakasians. The downpour brought cheers for Sivakasians. The break over of much awaited North East Monsoon Rainfall brings relief. Expecting the monsoon rainfall will solve water crisis problem, in Sivakasi.
