Sivakasians begins to draw Kolam for Pongal

Sivakasi women, girls and kids begins to draw Colourful Pongal Rangoli and Dot Kolams and decorating their courtyards and houses. Like the lines in the kolam, it ends where it begins. It is popularly believed that by drawing a kolam one can invite Lakshmi, the Goddess of wealth into one-s house. Thai Pongal is also famous for Colourful Kolams and the festival of Kolam begins in Sivakasi.
