Holika Dahan 2014

On 16th March 2014, Sunday evening was celebrated by lighting huge bonfires as part of the Holi celebration when people gather near the fire to fill the air with folk songs and dances, near Velayutharastha, Sivakasi. Around 100 Sivakasi Marwaris participated on the occasion. Mr.Ankur Biyani said sivakasiweekly.com that, crowd gathered near Velayutharastha to watch the lighting of a bonfire, which is known as Holika Dahan. And the fire traditionally marks the beginning of the Holi festival, and colors are thrown the following day, he added.
