The Daytime Moon, in Sivakasi

From 12th August 2014, Tuesday, you might have seen moon in the daytime, in Sivakasi town. This is because, after Full Moon, the Moon continues in its orbit, moving slowly towards the Sun on the opposite side, and again Sun and Moon can be seen at the same time in the morning sky. You can see the moon at daytime for next one or two days, in Sivakasi.

Special pujas were performed in majority of the Sivakasi temples on full moon day including the Pournami Pooja (10th August 2014, Sunday). Some Sivakasians observed fasting on full moon day. Usually, the Pournami Fasting begins at Sunrise and ends after sighting the Moon. Some Sivakasi devotees only take food after seeing the moon or after evening prayers.
