Summer 2015 : Watermelon vendors popping up in Sivakasi

For the last few weeks, in Sivakasi, watermelons, a juicy fruit usually associated with summer, have started popping up in street corners and fruit and vegetable markets. In Sivakasi, roadside vendors sell Watermelon for prices ranging from Rs.15 a kg to Rs.20 a kg. A piece of watermelon goes at the same retail rate Rs.5. Sivakasi roadside vendors have begun cashing in on the watermelons. It is the time for the fruit lovers to taste the fleshy melons to beat the heat of Summer.
