Palm Sunday observed with fervour

Today, Kurutholai Sunday, which marks the commencement of the "Holy Week" leading to Easter, was observed by Sivakasi Christians with various ceremonies. Special services were held in Sivakasi Lourdes Church to mark the occasion with palm leaves being blessed and distributed to the faithful. Hundreds of devotees participated in the processions holding the palm leaves, from Velankanni Matha Higher Secondary School to Sivakasi Lourdes Church. It was followed by Holy mass. Palm branches are considered symbols of joy and victory.
