Ramadan celebrated in Sivakasi

Ramadan was celebrated in Sivakasi, today. Perunnaal namaskaaram, the mass prayers, were held at mosques in the town. Wearing new Ramzan garments, thousands of people, including women and children attended the prayers. During the festival, Muslims exchange gifts and greet their neighbours as a mark of solidarity and brotherhood. During the nombu time, Sivakasi Muslims gift biryani packs and nombu kanjis to Hindu and Christian neighbours. Some Hindus too observed fasting on this special occasion, in Sivakasi.
