20-09-2015 20th September 2015 - The Hindu Sivakasi has the most number of voters in Virudhunagar District The seven Assembly segments of Virudhunagar district have a total of 15,12,250 voters, including 7,65494 women voters, in the draft voter list released on Tuesday. The number of voters in the district has gone up by 21,258 since last publication in January 2015. Collector V. Rajaraman released the draft voter list at the Collectorate which was received by representatives of political parties. The number of male voters in the district was 7,46,631. The district had 125 others. Among the segments, Sivakasi has the most number of voters – 2,31,154, and Aruppukottai the least number of voters – 2,03,271. Later addressing representatives of recognised political parties, Mr. Rajaraman asked them to appoint their agents in the newly formed 50 polling booths in the district. All persons who would have completed 18 years of age on January 01, 2016 were eligible for including their names in the electoral roll during the summary revision of the voter list to be taken up between September 15 and October 14. Similarly, deletion of voters and incorporation of corrections would be taken up during the period, he added. People were asked to submit relevant forms for inclusion, deletion and making corrections with the designated officer in the polling booths, tahsildars, municipal commissioners or revenue divisional officers concerned. The parts of the voter list relevant to every panchayat would be read out at the special gram sabha meetings to be held at the panchayats on September 16 and 30, he added. Special camps at the polling booths would be held on Sundays September 20 and October 4. The final voter list would be released on January 11, 2016, the Collector said. District Revenue Officer C. Muthukumaran, Sub-Collector (Sivakasi) Amar Kushwaha, Personal Assistant to Collector (general) Nagajothi, and Tahsildar (Election) Sridhar were also present. |
