Organized by Department of Computer Science About the E-Pledge World Food Safety Day (WFSD) is celebrated on 7th June. It aims to draw attention and inspire action to help prevent, detect and manage foodborne risks, contributing to food security, human health, economic prosperity, agriculture, market access, tourism and sustainable development. Food safety has a critical role in assuring food stays safe in every stage of the food chain from production to consumption to prevent food-borne illness. It is a scientific process to ensure that food stays good enough at every level viz handling, preparation, and storage of food. Food safety is a shared responsibility of governments, producers, and consumers at their level. Everybody has a role to play from production to consumption to ensure the food we consume is safe enough for consumption and will not cause any health issues. The theme for World Food Safety Day 2022 is 'Safer Food, Better Health'. The theme is focusing on the benefits and necessity of safe food as safe food is one of the most critical guarantors for good health. Five Pillars of Food Safety 1. Maintain personal hygiene while handling food 2. Keep cooking and surrounding area clean 3. Follow keys to safer food 4. Check food for adulteration & spoilage before consuming 5.
