Moderate rain on Kayarkuthu Festival

Chithirai Pongal Kayirukuthu festival was celebrated in Sivakasi, on 8th May 2024, Wednesday.. Large number of devotees take part in Vesham Poduthal ( swearing of white and black dots in their body and having neem leaves in their hands ) and sings the song Aahoi Ayyaahoi. Devotees carried mulaipaari, agni chatti, 1000 kannu paanai, and maavilakku. Some devotees perform nerthikadan such as Padha Kaanikai, Kan Malar, Muthu Poduthal, Kayirukuthudhal and mottai podudhal. Sevaral fans club and Social Clubs in Sivakasi distributed free Butter Milks, Rose milk, Sarbath, Lemon Juices and Paanai Karam to the public. Sivakasians posted their vesham poduthal photos in Facebook and other social media websites. Whatsapp status of Sivakasians were occupied with Vesham Poduthal photos. The town received moderate rainfall when the deity enters the temple in poopallakku. Despite rain devotees thronged the temple and fireworks show organised. It was nice to watch both rain combo (thunders, rain and lightning) and fireworks show at the same time.
