The festival of Panguni Pongal Kayarukuthu Thiruvizha, was celebrated with devotion and resilience in Sivakasi, as unexpected rainfall marked the occasion. Carrying umbrellas, devotees thronged temples from morning 08:a.m. to 10:00 a.m., refusing to let the weather dampen their festive spirit. Light to moderate showers were reported in Sivakasi, even as special prayers and rituals were underway. Men, women, and children were seen standing in long queues outside temples, holding umbrellas and neem branches and patiently waiting to offer Pongal to the deity. The vibrant tradition of Vesham Poduthal added colour and devotion to the Panguni Pongal celebrations, even as light rains accompanied the festivities. Despite the rain, traditional Pongal preparations continued, with families cooking the offering and distributing it among fellow devotees. Processions in some areas were slightly delayed, but were carried out once the rain subsided. The rainfall brought relief from the summer heat, and many residents welcomed it as a blessing on the auspicious day. Authorities ensured proper arrangements and safety measures, while volunteers assisted devotees navigating through the rain. Devotees were not allowed to roll over on the bunch of neem branches that were placed in large volume in the urundu kodukkum place. Most of the devotees swearing neem branches and in vesham, worshipped Goddess Mariamman, The sight of devotees celebrating under umbrellas highlighted their unwavering devotion, turning the rainy Panguni Pongal Kayarukuthu Thiruvizha into a memorable and spiritually uplifting occasion.
